Founded in 1996. Risk Management Inc. is a risk management consulting firm specializing in workers’ compensation. We have completed projects for the Georgia Insurance Department, the Georgia State Board of Worker’s Compensation, The National Council on Compensation Insurance, The Independent Insurance Agents of Georgia, and hundreds of employers. We created the CWCP (Certified Workers’ Compensation Professional) program in 1999 and the P4 process (now called comP4) in 2000.


Steve Heinen

President, RMI

Steve graduated with a risk management degree from the University of Georgia and started his career as an underwriter with the Hartford. He has been an Insurance and Risk Advisor since 1984. Steve has received numerous awards from the Independent Insurance Agents of Georgia including the Presidents Citation and the Past Presidents Award and he was Insurance Man of the Year in 1992, 1997 and 2004. He also received an award from Rough Notes Magazine for Community Services. In 2010, Governor Deal appointed Steve to serve on the SITF Board to help oversee a $1.3 billion liability for the State of Georgia. He also co-chairs the claims committee for the Southern Association of Workers’ Compensation Administrators Steve has authored numerous publications on workers’ compensation and has been the keynote speaker at dozens of conferences. He founded Risk Management Inc. in late 1995 and the company has become one of the leading authorities on workers’ compensation.


Tammy Heinen

Director, Client Services

A graduate of East Tennessee University, Tammy managed a large team in the property management sector for over 20 years prior to joining RMI in 2013. She served as the state director for NARPM (National Association of Residential Property Managers) and also the National President of this organization. Tammy manages our client services team.


Kathy Oliver

Director, Workers’ Compensation

Kathy graduated from Kennesaw State University and has over 40 years’ experience in the workers’ compensation industry. She began as an adjuster with the Cobb County School System and later spent 14 years with a large regional TPA, eventually serving as President. After having served on the Chairman’s Advisory Council for thirteen years, she was recruited by the State Board of Workers’ Compensation for the position of Division Director of Licensure and Quality Assurance. Kathy later took on the role of Deputy Chief Operating Officer until her retirement from the Board in 2011. She joined RMI in 2011 and manages our claims management team.
